The Mid-Autumn Festival is the one of the most popular traditional festival in China(Spring Festival,Tomb Sweeping Festival,Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival ).
The Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest holiday when families get together and give thanks for nature’s abundance. It’s held on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar.In Chinese culture, moon cakes symbolize family reunion; people customarily offer moon cakes as gifts during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
But In Xiamen,there is a special traditional Mid-Autumn Festival activity- Bo Bing,which originated in Xiamen, then spread to southern Fujian region. It began in the early Qing Dynasty, zheng Chenggong invented the activity in order to solve the soldiers’ homesickness of the Mid-Autumn Festival , encourage their morale. Then, passed down from generation to generation, it has become a unique traditional custom in southern Fujian. For some Xiamen people, Moon Festival is more grand than Spring Festival.
